Salary & Pay Scale Details

  • Training Stipend: ₹56,100/- per month during 3-year training (Level 10 – 7th Pay Commission)
  • Starting Salary After Commission: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500/- (Lieutenant rank)
  • Additional Benefits: Military Service Pay (₹15,500), DA, HRA, Transport Allowance
  • Flying Allowance: ₹25,000/- per month for Air Force pilots
  • Maximum Salary: Up to ₹2,50,000/- (Chief of Army Staff level)
  • Career Growth: Regular promotions with rank progression from Lieutenant to General/Admiral/Air Chief Marshal

Exam Difficulty & Competition Analysis

  • Difficulty Level: High – Mathematics & General Ability Test with negative marking
  • Expected Applications: 8,00,000 – 10,00,000 candidates for 406 posts
  • Competition Ratio: Approximately 1:2000 to 1:2500 (Extremely High Competition)
  • Previous Cut-off Range: 330-360 marks out of 900 for written exam (37-40%)
  • Final Cut-off: 660-720 marks out of 1800 total marks (37-40%)
  • Preparation Time: 12-18 months recommended for comprehensive preparation
  • Success Rate: Less than 0.05% overall selection rate – Requires intensive preparation and SSB training
